Construction Update 9

Both the inside and outside retaining walls above the new Turn 3 Oversized Vehicle Tunnel construction at Talladega Superspeedway are being reformed and put back into place this week. In addition, backfilling of compacted stone to cover the outside and top of the tunnel took place last week. Crews are also currently laying down asphalt for the first layer of the approach ways to the tunnel. Read More

AWF Cook Off

Talladega Superspeedway is hosting the 14th annual Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Off on Saturday, March 9. Returning as judges are local media personalities and celebrities from last year’s competition (shown above) including Lisa Crane (NBC 13, bottom second from left), Ashley Gann (CBS 42, bottom fourth from left) and Chris Renkel (CBS 42, bottom third from right). Also returning is (starting from top right to left) Andrea Lindenberg (Talk 99.5), Chip Moore (VP at First Bank of Alabama), Guy Rawlings (NBC 13), Matt Murphy (Talk 99.5), Greg Burgess (The Rick and Bubba Show), Ryan Brown (JOX 94.5), and Mike Dubberly (FOX6). A total of 15 judges will determine the winning cook teams and ultimately decide the "Best Overall Winner," which will be invited to compete for the title of AWF 2019 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion. Darrell Waltrip (right), who began his storied NASCAR driving career at Talladega Superspeedway in 1972, joins track Chairman Grant Lynch to take a look inside the new Turn 3 Oversized Vehicle Tunnel construction Thursday.
