With the fans in mind, France was adamant there was going to be a race, and indeed there was after many drivers in Saturday’s Bama 400 NASCAR Touring event stayed over and competed on Sunday. Today known as Talladega Superspeedway, the first racing weekend at the 2.66-mile venue took place on September 13-14, 1969. NASCAR’s biggest track celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year.
