In 2004, Gordon was in the right place at the right time when late in the race Earnhardt pulled along his side to make the pass, but the caution came out, ending the event. The tradition continues with the GEICO 500 on Sunday, April 28 as NASCAR’s biggest track celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
