Talladega Transformation! New Superspeedway Infield Project Unveiled

NASCAR’s most competitive track - Talladega Superspeedway - along with its parent company, International Speedway Corporation (ISC), announced at a press conference today details of Transformation – The Talladega Superspeedway Infield Project. The approximate $50 million redevelopment endeavor is part of ISC’s long-term capital allocation plan and reinvestment into its major motorsports complexes. The project, highlighted by a one-of-a-kind Garage Fan Zone Experience, will feature “up-close” access, interactive attractions and enhanced amenities for fans, sponsors, teams and stakeholders in the iconic Talladega infield.

In July, Talladega Superspeedway Chairman Grant Lynch (left) and International Speedway Corporation Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Joie Chitwood III (right) surrounded new logos for Transformation – The Talladega Superspeedway Infield Project and the track’s 50th Anniversary, both of which will be celebrated next year. Lynch, a staple at the venue since 1993, will retire in November of 2019, just weeks after the completion of Transformation.

NASCAR Vice Chairman Mike Helton Looking Forward to Alabama Return

Mike Helton’s annual travel itinerary includes, among several other destinations, 36 stops at tracks on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule. As Vice Chairman of NASCAR, Helton has collected memories everywhere – from Auto Club Speedway to Watkins Glen International. Two weekends each season, however, are circled on his loaded calendar: The Spring and Fall Classics at Talladega Superspeedway.

ISC Announces Comprehensive Ticket and Travel Protection Program

International Speedway Corporation (“ISC”) today announced the implementation of a comprehensive ticket and travel protection program with the ISC Weather Protection Program and TicketGuardian, both initiatives that will provide safeguards to guests when planning and attending NASCAR events. ISC is the parent company of Talladega Superspeedway.

This spirited group oversaw the official groundbreaking Tuesday of Talladega Superspeedway’s new Turn 3 Oversized Vehicle Tunnel which is the launch of the track’s Transformation Infield Project. They included Dell Hill (center), who was a part of the original track groundbreaking in May of 1968 (and is pictured in the black and white photo on the far right beside track founder Bill France Sr. from that day), and Lana Osborn (right), who was the first Miss Talladega 500 for the inaugural Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at the 2.66-mile venue in September of 1969. They were joined by Ellis H. Bennett (left), the Project Manager for Taylor Corporation from nearby Oxford, AL, which will spearhead the construction of the tunnel, Mike McWilliams (second from left), Owners Superintendent of International Speedway Corporation’s Design and Development team, and Talladega Superspeedway Chairman Grant Lynch. The new tunnel will be completed in time for the track’s April 2019 motorsports tripleheader weekend, featuring the GEICO 500, allowing fans 24-hour accessibility to the venue.

Construction on New Turn 3 Oversized Tunnel for Transformation Begins in a Few Days

Talladega Superspeedway and its parent company, International Speedway Corporation (ISC), revealed today that the construction of the new Turn 3 Oversized Tunnel, an important component of the track’s new Transformation Infield Project – will begin in a matter of days during the week of Oct. 21. Sunday’s announcement took place during a press conference prior to the start of the 1000Bulbs.com 500, a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoff race.

GEICO Extends Multiyear, Multi-Track Partnership with ISC

GEICO, the second-largest private passenger auto insurance company in the U.S., today announced it will extend its multiyear partnership with International Speedway Corporation (NASDAQ Global Select Market: ISCA; OTC Bulletin Board: ISCB) (“ISC”), owner / operator of 13 of the nation’s major motorsports facilities. GEICO will continue its entitlement for the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway as well as its Campground naming rights at eight ISC motorsports facilities. Debuting for NASCAR’s Chase double elimination weekend Oct. 21-23, GEICO will provide naming rights to Talladega’s Restart Zone. Beginning in 2017, GEICO will take ownership of this area at 10 additional ISC tracks as well.
