Talladega Superspeedway Recognizes David Sargent for Going the "Extra Mile"
Lincoln-Native Receives ServiceMaster Clean's Extra Mile Award
TALLADEGA, AL – This weekend’s winners were both on and off the track at Talladega Superspeedway. Not only did Jamie McMurray capture the checkered flag on Sunday, but David Sargent’s dedication and work ethic earned him the ServiceMaster Clean Extra Mile Award for his behind-the-scenes efforts that make each race possible.
Sargent has been a part of the track team for the past 17 years. He currently serves as the track carpenter and helps with general maintenance, including various construction jobs, track improvement projects and specialized lawn maintenance.
“David ‘Sarge’ Sargent has been one of the most valuable members of our team here at Talladega Superspeedway for 17 years,” said W. Grant Lynch, chairman of Talladega Superspeedway. “He not only has excellent carpenter and maintenance skills but he does some mean grass cutting sculptures. In addition, he is a fun guy to be around and has a humorous and engaging style that I really enjoy.”
Sargent is the proud father of a daughter, Anna, and enjoys spending time with his family as often as possible. Away from the track, the Lincoln-native enjoys relaxing with friends, riding jet skis and watching Auburn Tiger football games.
“Known for his dedication around the track, Sargent embodies the values of the ServiceMaster Extra Mile Award,” said Tom Coba, president of ServiceMaster Clean and Merry Maids. “He is always willing to go above and beyond which has earned him this recognition.”
Since its inception in 2010, the ServiceMaster Clean Extra Mile Award has recognized 37 track team members across the country. Award recipients have been key members of full-time track staff and dedicated volunteers selected by track management personnel.
Each award winner’s name is engraved on a plaque that is displayed at the track where the individual works or volunteers. A personal plaque also is presented to recipients during the track’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race weekend.
Just like a ServiceMaster Clean caution signals a call for quick and professional action by the track services team and equipment on the race track, it’s the same when you call 800-RESPOND if disaster strikes your home or business. It means cleaning and restoration is going to be done quickly and professionally by America’s number one cleaning team.
