NASCAR’s Air Titan™, Talladega’s ServiceMaster Clean Jet Dryer Fleet Delivers Success during Aaron’s Dream Weekend at Talladega
TALLADEGA, AL – Talladega Superspeedway is extremely pleased with our decision to secure, in advance of the event weekend, the NASCAR-developed Air Titan™ track-drying system to complement our existing ServiceMaster Clean Jet Dryer fleet during Aaron’s Dream Weekend last Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Both the Air Titan™ system and the ServiceMaster Clean Jet Dryers were used all three days at Talladega Superspeedway when the 2.66-mile track became rain-soaked at various times. Because of the significantly reduced time it took to dry the track with both track drying systems in action, fans in the stands and those at home watching television were able to enjoy all three races — the International Motorsports Hall of Fame 250 ARCA Racing Series event on Friday (completed 73 of the scheduled 94 laps), the Aaron’s 312 NASCAR Nationwide Series event on Saturday and the Aaron’s 499 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday.
“While we were unable to complete 100 percent of the practice time and Polk’s Meat Qualifying for the Sprint Cup Series on Friday, we were able to get in all three of our races, even with cold, wet conditions,” said Talladega Superspeedway Chairman Grant Lynch. “It was a minor miracle as we had rain at sporadic times throughout the weekend. We could not have gotten in all three races without the full usage of our ServiceMaster Clean Jet Dryers and Air Titan™. I want to personally thank the fans for sticking it out with us.”
A total of 16 six-foot Air Titans™ (12 of those triples, along with two singles and two in-line units) and 10 ServiceMaster Clean Jet Dryers were a part of the incredible track drying system.
Frank Kimmel won the ARCA event on Friday, while Regan Smith, in his JR Motorsports Chevrolet, took the checkered flag in Saturday’s Aaron’s 312. David Ragan stunned the racing world with an incredible last-lap pass to capture the Aaron’s 499.
