Earnhardt Visits AIDB
With only two weeks before Halloween, the students at Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind’s (AIDB) Alabama School for the Blind and Alabama School for the Deaf got a real treat…no tricks here! Jeffrey Earnhardt, son of Kerry Earnhardt and grandson of the late racing legend Dale Earnhardt, Sr., visited both campuses today to promote fire safety during National Fire Safety Month. The young Earnhardt is carrying on a family tradition started by his “Grandpa”, of participating in AIDB’s Race Fever fundraiser!
Accompanied by members of the Talladega Fire Department and International Motorsports Hall of Fame staff, Earnhardt spent all morning on the two AIDB campuses signing autographs, posing for photographs and answering student questions. Although fire safety was the main topic, none of the students could resist checking out his Nationwide series car, the Talladega Superspeedway’s Dodge Charger Pace Car and a City of Talladega Fire Engine. Students also received a ticket to come watch Earnhardt compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Mountain Dew 250 fueled by Fred’s race on October 30th!
Earnhardt, NASCAR’s only 4th generation driver, will join a host of other drivers and racing greats at the 25th Annual Race Fever. Also known as “Dega’s Ultimate Party with a Purpose”, Race Fever is a dinner and auction on the Friday evening of the fall race weekend at Talladega. This year’s event is October 29 at the SPEED Channel Dome in the International Motorsports Hall of Fame on the grounds of the Talladega Superspeedway. Your $50 ticket to the event includes and all-you-can-eat BBQ FEAST from Williamson Brothers BBQ, an over 200 item Silent Auction filled with racing memorabilia and other great items, a Live Auction with once-in-a-lifetime race experiences, vacation packages and more! And how could we forget the BEST part - you will have a chance to meet and get autographs and photos with many NASCAR drivers.
Others slated to appear are Bobby Labonte, Kyle Petty, Ned Jarrett, Paul Menard, David Gilliland, Kurt Busch, Travis Kvapil, Todd Bodine, Rick Crawford, Timothy Peters, Jennifer Jo Cobb, Austin Dillon, Mike Harmon, Tony Jackson, Jr., Justin Loftin, Mike Skinner and more. For an up to date listing of drivers, auction items and for tickets visit www.racefever.org or call (256) 761-3317.
