Talladega Superspeedway officials announced today that Clint Bowyer, driver of the No.07 Jack Daniel's Chevrolet in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, will host an autograph session for fans prior to the Mountain Dew 250 on Saturday, Oct. 6. The event is scheduled to last from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the McCaig-Wellborn Research Library, located in the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.
"Clint is charging hard for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Championship," said track president Rick Humphrey. "Ever since the Race for the Chase began, Clint has shot up the rankings. I would say he is definitely someone to watch out for in Sunday's UAW-Ford 500, as he is backed by Richard Childress, an owner who certainly knows how to steer a driver to Gatorade Victory Lane at Talladega Superspeedway. This is a great opportunity for fans to meet one of the stars of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, and possibly the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Champion."
The autograph session with Bowyer is free with paid admission to the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. Admission to the museum is $10 for adults, $5 for kids age 7 to 17 and free for kids age 6 and younger.
Bowyer currently sits third in the point standings, only 14 points behind Chase leader Jimmie Johnson. Bowyer entered the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup in 12th place, but has risen quickly during recent weeks with a win at New Hampshire and a second-place finish at Kansas. Bowyer is backed by Richard Childress, the owner tied for most wins at Talladega Superspeedway (9) with Rick Hendrick.
The 2007 UAW-Ford 500 weekend at Talladega Superspeedway will be held on Oct. 5-7 and will consist of the ARCA RE/MAX Series 250 on Friday, followed by the Mountain Dew 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race on Saturday. The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Car of Tomorrow will make its first appearance in a superspeedway race on Sunday, Oct. 7, which is also the fourth race in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup. Kids age 11 and younger are admitted free of charge on Friday and Saturday of race weekends in the general admission grandstands at Talladega Superspeedway.
