Joe Nichols To Sing National Anthem Prior To Aaron's 499
Talladega Superspeedway President Grant Lynch announced today that country music artist Joe Nichols will perform the National Anthem prior to the start of the Aaron's 499 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race on Sunday, April 29.
Nichols' current single "I'll Wait For You" is Top 10 on the country charts and is the third hit single from his gold-selling album III, joining his number one hit "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" and Top 5 hit "Size Matters." Currently, Nichols is in the studio working on his fourth album release for Universal Records South with producers Mark Wright and Brent Rowan.
"I'm on the road so much, I very seldom get to actually go to a NASCAR event," Nichols said. " The closest I have gotten this year was the Sound and Speed dinner in Nashville earlier this year, where I got to meet some of NASCAR's best. Talladega is the biggest and fastest track on the circuit, so to be able to sing the National Anthem and watch the race will be a real treat for me."
The Rogers, Ark. Native has received four Grammy nominations: Best Country Album, Best Country Male Vocal Performance (twice) and Best Country Song for his debut single "The Impossible." Nichols has also won every new artist award that is available in country music, including the prestigious Horizon Award from the Country Music Association.
"We're very happy to have Joe Nichols as our guest during the Aaron's Dream Weekend," Lynch said. "We know that he'll do a wonderful job singing the National Anthem prior to the Aaron's 499, and we think our fans will enjoy hearing him perform."
Nichols has made many appearances on national television, including Good Morning America, The View, Jimmy Kimmel Live, On Air With Ryan Seacrest, Cold Pizza, CNN Headline News and CNN's "The Biz." He has also been featured in several national print outlets, including The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, Los Angeles Times, People, US Weekly, Elle, Redbook, Esquire, Blender, Life Magazine, American Profile and USA Today.
