See The Best Of Alabama Attractions During Alabama Speedweek 2007
Officials from Talladega Superspeedway and Barber Motorsports Park are pleased to announce that this year's Alabama Speedweek features an opportunity to experience world-class racing at both facilities this spring at a special rate. The Speedweek Combo Pass includes a 3-day pass to the AMA Honda Superbike Classic at Barber Motorsports Park April 20-22 and a 3-day pass to the Aaron's Dream Weekend featuring NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series races at Talladega Superspeedway April 27-29 for only $100.
These hot ticket weekends at the state's premier sports facilities provide ideal "bookends" for an excellent spring vacation and with a deal like the Speedweek Combo Pass, there is little left to decide other than how to fit all of Alabama's other spectacular attractions into the few days left between them.
Barber Motorsports Park and Talladega Superspeedway officials said they decided last year to promote the events jointly through the Alabama Speedweek concept because the timing and proximity of the events creates a perfect window for guests to plan an entire vacation.
"We are excited about continuing the promotion of both of our weekends through the Alabama Speedweek concept, because we hope it will be a catalyst for our guests to enjoy extended stays in our state in order to experience our many natural wonders, museums and entertainment options," said Talladega Superspeedway Vice President and General Manager Rick Humphrey.
"We saw an increase in AMA attendance in 2006 which we attribute to the
Alabama Speedweek concept," said Gene Hallman, President of Bruno Event Team.
"Barber Motorsports Park is proud to partner with Talladega Superspeedway on
this unique idea for race fans. We will build on this concept of Speedweek for
years to come."
Alabama Speedweek provides an excellent opportunity and great value for family vacations, as well. Kids age 12 and younger are admitted free of charge to the Honda Superbike Classic at Barber Motorsports Park when accompanied by a paid adult. And at Talladega Superspeedway, kids age 11 and younger are admitted free of charge on Fridays and Saturdays of race weekend when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
The world-renowned Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala. will host the fifth annual AMA Superbike Championship Series. The Honda Superbike Classic, April 20-22, will be a Superbike double-header with one Superbike race on Saturday and a second Superbike race on Sunday. This premier motorcycle event will also feature three other races for a total of five races over the weekend.
Then Alabama Speedweek concludes with the first major event of the season at Talladega Superspeedway, Aaron's Dream Weekend set for April 27-29. On Friday, April 27, fans will witness two NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series practices, followed by The Birmingham News Qualifying for the NASCAR Busch Series. Saturday, April 28 will feature The Birmingham News Qualifying for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and the Aaron's 312 NASCAR
Busch Series race. Then on Sunday, April 29, the stage will be set for the Aaron's 499 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race.
