The legendary Alabama racetrack just experienced the most successful fall race weekend in its 37-year history. Fans were excited to see their favorite drivers race for the first time on a brand new racing surface, and also to witness the track's inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event. The 2007 Aaron's Dream Weekend will mark the first time the NASCAR Busch Series has competed on the track's new racing surface, and Talladega Superspeedway officials expect another great crowd to return this spring for the most competitive racing action on the NASCAR circuit.
Talladega Superspeedway's two NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races this year produced an astounding 119 official lead changes - with 56 in the Aaron's 499 and 63 in the UAW-Ford 500. That total is not only more lead changes than fans have witnessed this year at any other track, but 4 more than have been recorded in the season's last six races at other tracks! It is an impressive number even for Talladega Superspeedway, which is widely known for its competitiveness. The only year in which more lead changes were recorded here was in 1984, when NASCAR recorded a series all-time record of 75 lead changes in the spring and then 68 in the fall.
"It has been an incredible year for us. We were able to provide the greatest fans on the circuit with what they came for, and that's the greatest racing on the circuit," said Talladega Superspeedway Vice President and General Manager Rick Humphrey. "We want everyone to make plans now to come back for a visit this spring, because there are only more good things to come."
