Laps For Life: A Blood & Marrow Drive For Alabama
Talladega Superspeedway Laps For Life: A Blood & Marrow Drive For Alabama is just two weeks away, and track officials and Racing Experience, Inc. are sweetening the deal for those who can do a good deed. Everyone who registers online at www.nascar.com/foundation to participate in Talladega Superspeedway's drive will not only receive a Talladega Superspeedway hat when they show up at the Sept. 11 drive, but will automatically be registered to win a driving school package from Racing Experience, Inc.
"This is obviously a good cause and we are very pleased that Racing Experience, Inc. has come on board to offer this additional incentive to those who participate," said Talladega Superspeedway Vice President and General Manager Rick Humphrey. "We've got the greatest fans on the circuit, and we hope that those in the area will come out and support us in this endeavor."
Talladega Superspeedway and the American Red Cross will welcome race fans and blood donors to stop by the Goodyear Building located in the track's infield between the hours of 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11 to give the gift of life through blood donation and bone marrow registry.
Talladega Superspeedway Laps For Life: A Blood & Marrow Drive For Alabama is part of a nationwide effort among multiple tracks. The NASCAR Foundation, in partnership with the American Red Cross, Hendrick Marrow Program and the Jimmie Johnson Foundation announced in June at Michigan International Speedway that it would build upon MIS's annual Spirit of America 500 Blood Drive by providing unique experiences at many different tracks that bring out the goodwill and community pride in all race fans. In addition to giving blood, fans are also encouraged to join the National Marrow Donor Program's Registry of volunteer marrow donors. Every day, thousands of patients with life-threatening diseases that could be treated with a marrow transplant are searching the Registry for a donor.
Other participating tracks and organizations are Michigan International Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, California Speedway, Daytona International Speedway, Darlington Raceway, Dover International Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Lowe's Motor Speedway, Martinsville Speedway, Pocono Raceway, Richmond International Raceway, Watkins Glen International and Hendrick Motorsports.
